What gloves do NHL players wear?

It’s safe to say that whether you’re a professional NHL player or someone who plays ice hockey as a hobby, you want the best glove that you can get. With all the options out there, what gloves do the pros use during the big game? There is no simply answer for this question because it comes down to preference. You may find one player who prefers his gloves to be more form fitting yet a teammate may prefer something much more loose fitting. How big should my hockey glove be?

In fact, to ensure a proper fit, participants are measured to ensure that not only is the ice hockey glove long enough, but also fits in a way that allows proper use during games. What goes into fitting an ice hockey glove you ask? The first thing that is done is a measuring tape is used to measure from the tip of your fingers on up to your elbow. As gloves do not come in partial sizes, the number gets rounded up to the next whole number.

For example, if you’ve measured from fingertip to elbow and get a reading of thirteen and a half inches, then automatically round up to fourteen inches. If for any reason, when you try on a hockey glove, your fingers are touching the end of the glove, it’s too small and you should be measured again for accuracy on your hockey glove. When being measured for your ice hockey glove, at no point in time should any of your lower arm become exposed. The purpose of the glove is to shield you, so if your arm is exposed it's not doing its job. There are parts of the glove that will fit accurately but leave small portions of your hand/arm exposed. In this case, guards and padding can be purchased separately for further protection during game play. While it might seem to make sense to go for a guard that would be softer.
